Alexander Cooke

Principal actor. Being apprenticed to John Heminges on 26 January 1597, his birth is to be dated well after Christmas 1582. David Kathman links him by means of a namesake brother to a baptism at Sandwich, Kent, on 15 December 1583. In the SDS-plot obviously the ‘Saunder’ who played Queen Videna and Procne. These are leading ladies, while he is in Kathman’s respective datings fifteen at best. This seems rather young, but is consistent whith the better documented careers of boy actors from later generations.  1
